Rovereto is one of the main centers of the Trentino-South Tyrol region. Situated in a mountain valley and surrounded by forested peaks, the city is an important center of culture and art with a 200-year-old theater and a Museum of Contemporary Art.

The city was founded around the border fortress, which in the past guarded the border of the bishopric of Trento and Venice, and later on Austrian Tyrol and Italy. The castle, erected by the Venetians at the turn of the 15th and 16th centuries on the ruins of the previous building, has survived to this day. Currently, the Italian War History Museum is located in the fortress standing on a hill, from which you can admire beautiful views of the area.

Among the attractions of Rovereto is the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Trento and Rovereto, opened in 2002. The facility presents temporary exhibitions presenting current trends in Italian and world art.

The city also has a nice, historic center with bourgeois houses from the 18th and 19th centuries. The Zandonai Theater, founded in 1783 and housed in a richly decorated building, also operates here.

Due to its location between Trento and Lake Garda, Rovereto can be a good base for exploring the region and for active tourism in the surrounding mountains. The famous climbing areas, led by Arco Rock, and via ferrata routes on Lake Garda are also nearby.
