One of the largest and best-preserved patrician houses in Pompeii. It probably belonged to the conqueror of the city, the grandson of Publius Sula. The ruins occupy the entire quarter with dimensions of 40x110 m, and the layout of the house is still visible today.
The name of the house comes from a bronze figure of a dancing fauna located in one of the courtyards. There are colonnades as well as residential and utility rooms around the courtyards. The house was decorated with mosaics depicting mythological and historical scenes that can now be seen at the National Museum of Naples.menos
