Abadía de Santa Maria di Pulsano

A monastery located alone in the mountains above Monte Sant'Angelo. It was founded in the 6th century and expanded in the 12th century. For several hundred years, the monks lived here in rock caves, in seclusion and silence, focused only on prayer and work. Currently, the monks live in the monastery, but you can still see their former cells in the grottoes. Some of the altars and small paintings on the walls have been preserved.
