Como is one of the three lakes - next to Maggiore and Garda - where water is operated by the Gestione Navigazione Laghi lines. The fleet consists of about 100 ships - small cruise ships, ferries and catamarans. The beginnings of water transport date back to 1826-1827. The first car transport ferry was launched in 1933.
