Eremo delle Carceri

A hermitage on the slopes of Monte Subasio associated with the Franciscan movement and the activities of St. Francis of Assisi. Along with Assisi, the sanctuary was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2000. Carceri is located at an altitude of 791 m above sea level, surrounded by caves inhabited by hermits since early Christian times.
