Oscar Wilde's family home is located in Dublin on Merrion Square. It is a brick tenement house from the first half of the 19th century. It is owned by the American College in Dublin. At the end of the 20th century, the interiors were restored in the spirit of Wilde's times and dedicated to a variety of cultural events.
Oscar Wilde's parents moved to Merrion Square in 1855, shortly before his birth. The family lived here until 1876. At the end of the 20th century, the house was bought by American College and with a generous donation from sponsors, he was able to renovate it.
From the outside, the building is nothing unusual. It is a multi-storey, brick tenement house. Very simple and functional. The interiors have been restored and furnished with appliances from the mid-19th century. Currently, the house can only be visited in groups, by appointment.
