Stretford is a city within Greater Manchester best known for its Manchester United stadium, Old Trafford. It is an industrial and service center established in the 19th century and currently transformed into a center of modern technologies.

The city developed as a weaving center since the Middle Ages. Its profile changed only at the end of the 19th century, when the Port Channel was built. With him, industrialization came to Stretford. Machine-building factories and manufacturing parts for cars and military equipment appeared. Although in the mid-nineteenth century, Stretford Park was considered one of the best locations in Manchester and elegant housing estates grew here, fifty years later they turned into a typical working class city.

In 1910, a football stadium was built on an area known as Old Trafford after its former owners, which today remains one of the most famous such facilities in England. Manchester United play their games here. Next to the stadium, which is Stretford's biggest attraction, there is also the Manchester United Museum.

The Stretford Park areas, built at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries with factory buildings and warehouses, have been changing their face in recent years. The transformations that have affected Manchester's industry can also be seen here. In the place of brick halls and warehouses there are modern, metal and glass office buildings, logistic centers and new technology centers. The building of the War Museum with a multimedia, interactive exhibition and the Sea Life Manchester aquarium were also built here.
