Newquay is a popular resort situated picturesquely on the cliffs of Cornwall. There are sandy beaches, lots of walking areas and a zoo.

Newquay has been a fishing village since the Middle Ages. The fishermen here mainly caught herring, which were either smoked locally or salted and shipped to many towns throughout England. The fishing port is a relic of those times, and now you can also go on a boat trip along the coast.

At the end of the 19th century, Newquay began to change its face to a resort town. At that time, villas and boarding houses were built, and cliff walks were marked out in the vicinity. Tennis courts and sports fields, as well as a representative promenade, were also built. Now the zoo has joined the Newquay attractions.

Due to the excellent wind conditions, Newquay is considered the British windsurfing capital. There are several windsurfing schools and equipment rentals. The surrounding beaches do not form one continuous strip, but are situated in secluded bays. The most famous are Fistral Beach and Tolcarne Beach.
