Maldon is a historic town at the mouth of the Blackwater River. It has a historic waterfront, a waterfront park with many attractions and a modern Heritage Center. It offers a lot of entertainment, including sea cruises in vintage boats.

The town has existed since Saxon times, and the name of the local waterfront, Hythe Quay, is derived from the Saxon dialect and means a place where ships land. Along the quay there are antique sailing boats and barges that used to be used by local merchants to transport goods. Today they are used for tourist cruises. On land, you can visit former warehouses, port houses and factories where restaurants, bars, craft workshops and shops operate today.

The big attraction of Maldon is the Promenade Park. Designed in the second half of the nineteenth century, it is a favorite walking place for residents and tourists coming to the city. It is located on the Blackwater Estuary, into which it slopes gently creating picnic areas, recreational areas, gardens and a small water park. The park also houses the Maldon Museum, which presents exhibits related to the history of the city.

The second museum here is the Maeldune Heritage Center, located in an ancient stone tower. It shows the transformations of the city in the period from 991 to the present day. The huge embroidery depicting scenes from over 1000 years of the city's history is presented here.
