Timanfaya National Park (Parque Nacional de Timanfaya), otherwise known as the Mountains of Fire (Montañas del Fuego) on the island of Lanzarote, includes volcanic areas that were formed as a result of an eruption in the 1830s. For six years, 300 craters have been active here. Today, this lunar landscape can be admired from the window of a bus that departs regularly from outside the visitor center, or from a viewpoint designed by local artist César Manrique.
