Jardín Victoria

The Victoria Garden is located in the historic center of La Orotava, adjacent to the Plaza de la Constitución. It was built in the 19th century in an eclectic style according to the design of the French artist Adolph Croquet. From the cobbled alleys you can enjoy a panoramic view of the old district of La Orotava.

The garden has the form of multi-level terraces with lots of colorful flowers and numerous fountains. Its central point is the mausoleum of Diego de Pinte, Marquis of Quinta Roja. The mausoleum, supported by eight Corinthian columns, was built of white marble. There is an omega symbol on its door.

It is worth mentioning that de Pinte came from one of the richest and most influential families on the island in the 19th century. Due to his belonging to a Masonic lodge, he was initially denied a Christian burial, therefore, on the initiative of his mother, a mausoleum was erected in the gardens. Ultimately, however, the marquis was buried elsewhere and the mausoleum stands empty.
