Teatro Estatal de Košice

The building of the State Theater in Košice is located at the market square. It is an eclectic building with neo-baroque elements. There is an opera, ballet and drama scene.

The theater building was erected in 1899. The author of the project was the Hungarian architect Adolf Lang. It is a monumental building with an avant-corps above the entrance, divided by double columns. It is crowned with a tympanum decorated with sculptural decorations. The building is covered with a semi-dome.

The interiors of the theater are richly decorated in the neo-baroque style. The main hall has three floors of boxes and a beautifully decorated ceiling. The spacious foyer and corridors resemble palace interiors.
