Casco antiguo de Dusseldorf

Nombre local: Düsseldorf-Altstadt

The history of the Old Town dates back to the Middle Ages. Today, a large part of the district is pedestrianized and consists of pedestrian streets surrounded by shops, boutiques and restaurants. In total, there are over 300 bars, discos and restaurants, which is why the Old Town is sometimes called "the longest bar in the world".

The most important monuments in the Old Town include the Basilica of St. Lambertus, the Old Town Hall, the baroque chapel of St. Andrew and the monastery church, also dedicated to St. Andrzej. Here you can also see numerous tenement houses and visit Schlossturm, which houses the Shipping Museum.

While strolling around the Old Town, it is worth paying attention to the equestrian statue in the main square depicting Jan Welleman. You can also see a valuable art collection from North Rhine-Westphalia.
